Something I would say is....what if the pirate man has only been a pirate man for a week? If he has always wanted to, was previously a city banker, confined by the expectations of his family, but finally broken free?
It is so easy to go somewhere and imagine everyone there has been there forever and has the history and 'right' but as sure as eggs is eggs, someone will see your floating apothecary and think they wish they wer brave enough to do that, and imagine you have been doing it your whole life.
Because really, you have. Maybe not the practical side of canal boating, but your whole life has been leading here. So I think that makes you just as valid as the person born on a boat xx
